In 1983 Sottsass Made A Series Of Vases Named For Rivers – A Clear Reference To Water – Vertically Stacking Bizarre Forms Shaped In White Porcelain, With A Single Touch Of Color. The Form Of The Traditional Ceramic Vase Is Broken Down And Reassembled With Interlocking Parts, In An Unstable Balance. The Effect Is Paradoxical And Dynamic.
